Hey, so I'm finally catching up on your blog, and watched your link on the food crisis. I think it is something that we need to address here in the States and other richer countries, because what we do does have such a big impact on the rest of the world. One of the things I am concerned about is the trend towards organic production and decreased technological inputs in situations that it makes sense to use those inputs. Things like hormones in meat & milk production, GMO's, etc. that have been proven to be safe as much as we can tell, but people reject them on the basis of their feelings of what they want to eat or not. We do have the system in place to keep unsafe products off the market, and it works remarkably well. So when we choose to produce our own food less efficiently because we want an idealized form of production, we end up denying food to others, because we price it out of their range. Of course, our appetites could also use some reigning in... Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox :)
